Overview

Prilled urea is the most traded nitrogen fertilizer in the world, with a nitrogen content of 46% — the highest of any solid nitrogen fertilizer. The prilling process produces smaller, more uniform particles than granulation, which makes it suitable for direct broadcast application, dissolution for fertigation, and use as a blending component.

Chinese prilled urea is produced in large-scale plants and exported worldwide. As a Qingdao-based exporter, SINO STARCO CHEMICAL ships prilled urea mainly in containers for bagged cargo and coordinates bulk vessel shipments for large-volume contracts.

Quality is controlled at the production plant, with COA issued per lot. For bagged export cargo we pay particular attention to moisture protection — bag liners, container condition and loading practice — because urea is hygroscopic and caking during ocean transit is the main quality risk.

What is the difference between prilled and granular urea?

Both contain 46% nitrogen. Prilled urea is made by the prilling tower process and has smaller, more uniform particles (typically 1–2.8 mm). Granular urea is made by granulation and has larger, harder particles (2–4.75 mm), which makes it more suitable for mechanical spreading and blending.

Which packaging should I choose for my market?

50 kg bags suit distributors selling to farmers; jumbo bags suit plantations and blenders. Tell us your destination port and sales channel and we will advise the common practice for your market.

Do you ship in bulk vessels or only containers?

Both. Container shipments suit bagged cargo of 100–1000 MT; bulk vessels suit large-volume contracts. Loading port is normally Qingdao or other major Chinese ports depending on the production source.
